Grand & Benedicts liquidates fixtures, furniture,
and equipment (FF&E) used in retail stores, distribution
centers, and offices of retail clients who are restructuring,
closing under-performing stores, or in bankruptcy
liquidation. We do not liquidate merchandise –
NO RUGS, NO JEWELRY, NO CLOTHING.
Some companies offer to sell your FF&E in conjunction
with merchandise liquidations, saying they will save
you money. In fact, the in store person focuses on
merchandise, relegating FF&E to a secondary position
(because FF&E is not where they make the most
money). The problems associated with subordinating
FF&E is apparent when the sale ends - the building
is still full of FF&E. Most retailers are unaware
the liquidator’s agency agreement grants them
a "Right to Abandon" unsold FF&E. They
cloak this easy out (anything they cannot sell, they
leave behind for the debtor to handle) in their vague
definition of Broom Clean". Ironically, these
liquidators usually receive 20% of FF&E sales
for a paltry effort. The promised shorter occupancy
only benefits the liquidator because the debtor, courts,
and landlords still must resolve the residual mess.
